SPJ Madison recognizes local Sigma Delta Chi Winner

David Wahlberg, of the Wisconsin State Journal, has won SPJ’s Sigma Delta Chi 2010 Award for Non-Deadline Reporting (Daily Circulation 50,001-100,000) for his series, “Out of Reach: The Rural Health Care Gap.” (PDF)

This was an 11-part series of articles that ran from March 2010 to December 2010, illustrating the deficiencies in health care that exist in rural Wisconsin, related to a shortage of physicians, underinsured and uninsured patients, and a lack of facilities.
