SPJ Madison To Host Trivia Night

Journalists and friends of journalism: dust off your media history and “All The President’s Men” knowledge, and join the Madison chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists for a journalism-themed Trivia Night during National Sunshine Week.

Trivia night will be held from 7-9:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 15 at Argus Bar and Grill, 123 E. Main St. in the basement, with trivia run by League Trivia of Madison. Trivia will start at 7:30 p.m.

Newsrooms and friends of journalism are encouraged to form teams of up to six players. To register, please email spjmadison@gmail.com with your team name, team members, and how you’ll pay. Cost of entry is $10 per team member.

You can also send money via PayPal or Venmo to Schossow (bschossow@gmail.com). Proceeds will go toward prizes and to benefit future journalism programming by SPJ.

SPJ Madison holiday party and raffle Dec. 14

MADISON — The Madison chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, in conjunction with the Capitol press corps, will hold its annual holiday party and raffle Thursday, Dec. 14 from 6-9 pm.

Proceeds from the raffle will benefit the Daily Cardinal and the Badger Herald, the two student newspapers at UW-Madison.

All area journalists and journalism supporters are encouraged to attend the free event, held at the Argus Bar, 123 E. Main St. in Madison. Please bring a dish to pass.

Join us for happy hour with Sarah Kliff of Vox this Thursday

MADISON — The Madison chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists is hosting a happy hour event with leading health care journalist Sarah Kliff on Thursday, Nov. 30.

Kliff is a senior policy correspondent and podcast host at Vox, and has spent seven years chronicling the debate around the Affordable Care Act.

All area journalists and journalism supporters are encouraged to attend the free event, which will be held at the Mason Lounge, 416 S. Park St. in Madison, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Sarah Kliff is a senior policy correspondent at Vox.com

Kliff is in Madison this week as part of the Center for Journalism Ethics’ journalist in residence program, an initiative now in its second year. The program brings nationally renowned journalists to campus to promote engagement with UW-Madison students and the public.

Among her other events this week is a free health care policy panel at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29 at the Overture Center for the Arts in Madison, where she’ll join J. Paul Kelleher, UW-Madison associate professor in the Department of Medical History and Bioethics; and David Wahlberg, Wisconsin State Journal health care reporter.
