Wisconsin student journalists win SPJ Region 6 honors

The Daily Cardinal of UW-Madison was named Best All-Around Daily Newspaper in Region 6 in the Society of Professional Journalists’ annual Mark of Excellence Awards.

The UWM Post at UW-Milwaukee was named the top non-daily paper. Curb was named the best student magazine. And WRST-FM at UW-Oshkosh won best all-around radio newscast.

The Region Six awards were announced on Friday, April 12 in Bloomington, Minn.

Brian Urbanek, WRST-FM, radio feature

Brandon Kinnard, WRST, radio sports reporting

James Gutierrez, Media Milwaukee, UW-Milwaukee, online news reporting (large)

Jordan Johansen, Media Milwaukee, online feature reporting (large)

Marit Harm, Media Milwaukee, online in-depth reporting (large)

Kaitlin Sharkey, Media Milwaukee, online sports reporting (large)
