SPJ Madison to hold April 18 happy hour event with NPR’s Carrie Johnson

Join the Madison Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists on April 18 for a happy hour networking event with Carrie Johnson, NPR Justice Correspondent.

MADISON – The Madison Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) has organized a happy hour networking event featuring Carrie Johnson, an NPR Justice Correspondent. All area journalists are welcome to attend. The event will be held at the Mason Lounge, 416 S Park St, Madison, WI 53715, on April 18, and will begin at 7:00 p.m. SPJ will offer a selection of appetizers and snacks.

Johnson, a UW-Madison graduate, is a Justice Correspondent for NPR’s Washington Desk. She covers a wide variety of stories about justice issues, law enforcement and legal affairs for NPR’s flagship programs Morning Edition and All Things Considered, as well as the Newscasts and NPR.org.

Johnson will also attend a brown bag lunch at Capital Newspapers, 1901 Fish Hatchery Road, Madison on April 15 at noon.

Membership in SPJ is not necessary to attend either event . Your RSVP is appreciated.

Based in Indianapolis, SPJ is a national membership organization that promotes high professional and ethical standards among journalists, First Amendment principles and the belief that a free and vigorous press is vital in a representative democracy. The Madison professional chapter was formed around 1990. Membership costs $75 annually, and it is open to journalists who spend at least half of their professional life writing or editing work for publication.
