Learn how you can use Facebook to promote you, your writing and your publication

Facebook connects a billion friends, family, businesses and groups worldwide. The social media platform allows users to share thoughts, photos and in many cases, tmi. For journalists and writers, it’s also a space where you can push your articles, publication or news outlet to an audience beyond your newspaper, magazine, TV station or website’s typical bandwidth.
The Society of Professional Journalists Madison Pro chapter welcomes Katie Harbath for “Facebook for Journalists” on Jan. 15 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Union, 800 Langdon Street, Madison, Wis. Check TITU (Today in the Union) for room information. Harbath is Associate Manager for Policy with Facebook, where she works with elected officials and campaigns on the best ways for them to use Facebook. In her interactive presentation, Harbath will cover page posting tips, how to increase the sharing of your content (which translates into more page views) and how to use Facebook to report.

More about Katie Harbath
Katie Harbath has been an active participant in online campaigning and communications since 2003. Before joining Facebook in 2009, Harbath was at the National Republican Senatorial Committee as Chief Digital Strategist. Previous jobs also include the DC public affairs firm DCI Group where she oversaw Internet operations and online activities for clients, Deputy eCampaign Director for Rudy Giuliani’s Presidential Campaign, and the Republican National Committee where she was responsible for GOP.com, the national party’s website.
A Green Bay native, Harbath is a 2003 UW-Madison graduate with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science.
